About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you visit Girls Trouble, communicate with us or use the features described below. Aptitude Media Inc. operates Girls Trouble at girlstrouble.com. You can contact us about privacy at [email protected].
Information we receive and why
- Communications: If you email us or send a message through a form presented on the website, we receive the contact information and message you choose to send, together with the technical information needed to deliver and handle it. We use this information to respond, manage the inquiry and maintain relevant correspondence.
- Comments and attachments: Article comment features request a display name and email address, provide space for the comment and an optional website address, and can present an attachment option. The display name, comment, website link and any attachment you submit may be public after publication. An email address used for comment handling or notifications is different from the name shown publicly. The comment system also processes technical request and anti-spam information to accept, moderate and protect comments. Attachments can contain embedded metadata; remove private information before uploading.
- Comment notifications: If you choose comment or reply notifications, the comment system receives your email address and the article or notification preference so it can send those updates.
- Browser and usage information: Web requests and website integrations transmit information such as an IP address, browser and device details, requested page, referring page where supplied, approximate time and interaction information. Cookies or similar identifiers may distinguish visits or store a preference. We use technical information to deliver pages, understand readership, diagnose problems, moderate abuse and maintain security. These identifiers and usage records can be personal information; they are not necessarily anonymous.
Information comes directly from what you submit, from your browser or device when it makes requests, and from the website features and external services with which you interact. We do not describe an ordinary page view or continued browsing as consent to every use of information.
Cookies and website services
Website features and external resources can use cookies, browser storage or similar technologies for functionality, measurement, abuse protection, communications and advertising. The effect depends on the service and your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect features and does not necessarily stop all requests to external services.
- Google Analytics: The website loads Google’s analytics tag to measure website use and interactions. Page and device information, identifiers and interactions can be sent to Google when the tag runs. The pages viewed and their URLs can reveal the topic of an article. Google’s handling is described in its Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare: Cloudflare services are used in delivering and measuring the website. Requests and performance information are handled according to the service involved and Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
- Google Fonts and reCAPTCHA: Remote font requests send technical request information to Google. Comment features also load Google reCAPTCHA for abuse protection; interacting with that feature can send browser, device and interaction information to Google. Review Google’s Privacy Policy for its handling.
- WordPress and comment/form tools: WordPress and wpDiscuz support publishing and article comments. Contact Form 7 manages contact forms where they are presented. These tools process the information submitted through those features and technical information needed to deliver, moderate and protect them.
Advertising, affiliate links and disclosures
The website uses advertising tools and can display advertisements or affiliate links. When you follow an advertisement or affiliate link, the destination or attribution service receives the request and technical information involved, and any information you choose to provide there. Advertising or attribution can involve cookies, identifiers, page context and interactions. Third-party services can combine information from different websites under their own practices; browser identifiers and activity can be personal information even without your name.
Information can be disclosed to companies supporting hosting, delivery, analytics, security, communications, website features and advertising, as described above. Information can also be disclosed when needed to address a legal requirement, investigate misuse or protect rights, or in connection with a business transfer where applicable. The information involved depends on the interaction: communications can include contact details and content, while website and advertising requests can include identifiers and usage or technical information.
Some advertising-related disclosures may fall within legal definitions of sale, sharing or targeted advertising even when no money is paid for the information. Those definitions vary by law. You can submit an applicable opt-out using the link and email process below. The applicable rights are described in the State privacy rights section below.
Separate from the website integrations described in this policy, we do not sell, rent or give visitor contact or subscriber lists to agencies or advertisers, or create or share audiences from health-related information.
Retention and deletion
Records of correspondence, comments, comment-notification subscriptions, privacy requests and website operations can remain in the systems used to handle those activities after the original interaction. This can include website records, email systems and service-provider records; copies can also remain in backups where they are made. Deleting browser cookies or unsubscribing from messages does not itself delete those records. To ask about information associated with you or request deletion under applicable law, email [email protected].
Your privacy choices
Use the notification choices or unsubscribe instructions associated with a comment notification, or contact the privacy address if you want help stopping those messages. Requesting comment updates does not by itself subscribe you to an unrelated marketing list.
For sale, sharing or targeted-advertising opt-out requests, use our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page or email [email protected]. Identify this website and the request you want us to handle. A website account is not required. California sale/sharing opt-out requests are not subject to identity verification.
Our current opt-out request route is handled by email. Opening this policy, the opt-out page or an email link does not change cookies, disable scripts or stop advertisements. Our website does not change its first-party behavior in response to legacy browser Do Not Track signals. Third-party services may respond independently. Automatic site-wide enforcement of Global Privacy Control signals is not currently available through this website; use the email request route described here for an applicable opt-out. Your browser may independently restrict cookies or other requests. Blocking cookies can affect features, and it does not by itself delete information already received by us or another company.
An advertising opt-out, a request to delete information, and an email unsubscribe are different requests. You can describe more than one request in the same email. If a feature asks for a separate optional choice, use that choice for that feature; simply browsing the website is not a substitute for any consent that applicable law requires.
Links and external services
Following an external link takes you to another service, whose operator receives the information involved in that visit. External services have their own privacy notices and settings. A link to their notice or choices does not mean we control their use of information or that their choices cover every service on this website.
Children and sensitive information
Do not send passwords, government identifiers, financial-account details, medical records or other sensitive information in public contributions or ordinary inquiries. A parent or guardian with a concern about a child’s information can contact the privacy address below and identify the website and the concern without sending the child’s sensitive details initially.
Security
The website uses HTTPS for web requests. No website, email service or storage system can guarantee absolute security. Keep sensitive material out of public comments, attachments and ordinary email, and contact us if you have a privacy or security concern.
State privacy rights
This section describes rights that may apply under California, Nevada, Washington, Virginia, and Maryland law. Your rights depend on your residence, the information and processing involved, whether the relevant law applies to our business, and legal exceptions.
California
Where the California Consumer Privacy Act applies, California residents may request to know and access personal information, including information about its collection, use, disclosure, sale, and sharing; request deletion; correct inaccurate information; opt out of sale or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising; and limit certain uses or disclosures of sensitive personal information. The law also protects against discrimination for exercising applicable rights.
You can email the privacy address above to submit an applicable request, including a sale/sharing opt-out or sensitive-information limitation request. California sale/sharing opt-out requests are not subject to identity verification. Other requests may require verification as permitted by law.
Virginia
Where Virginia’s Consumer Data Protection Act applies, eligible consumers may confirm whether their personal data is processed, access it, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, and obtain a portable copy of personal data they previously provided when processing is automated. They may opt out of targeted advertising, sales of personal data, and profiling used for decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. They may also appeal a refusal to act on a request.
Maryland
Where Maryland’s Online Data Privacy Act applies, eligible consumers may confirm processing, access their personal data, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, and obtain a portable copy when processing is automated. They may obtain categories of third parties to which personal data has been disclosed and opt out of targeted advertising, sales, and profiling for solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. They may also appeal a refusal and revoke consent where processing relies on consent covered by that law.
Nevada online privacy
Where Nevada’s online privacy law applies, consumers may submit a verified request directing an operator not to sell covered information it has collected or will collect about them. Send a Nevada sale opt-out request to the privacy email above. Nevada’s definitions and exceptions differ from those in other states.
Washington and Nevada consumer health privacy
Where Washington’s consumer health privacy law applies, consumers may confirm and access covered health data, obtain recipient information, withdraw consent, request deletion, and appeal a refusal. Where Nevada’s consumer health privacy law applies, consumers may request confirmation of collection, sharing or sale, a recipient list, cessation of collection/sharing/sale, deletion, and appeal. Send questions or requests to the same privacy email without medical records, diagnoses, treatment details, or other health information.
Requests, representatives, and appeals
Email [email protected] and identify the website, your state of residence, and the type of request. A website account is not required to send an email request. Where law permits a representative or authorized agent to act for you, they may use this address and identify their representative capacity. Verification of identity or authority may be needed where permitted by law.
To appeal a decision, email the same address, identify the earlier request, and briefly explain what you want reviewed. Suggested subjects are “Privacy request” or “Privacy appeal”; these exact words are not required.
Do not send passwords, government identifiers, financial account details, identity documents, or health details with your initial request.
Policy updates and contact
We publish changes on this page and update the date above. Check this page for the current policy. A change to this policy does not replace a separate notice or consent where one is required for a particular collection or use.
For privacy questions, requests, complaints or an applicable appeal, email [email protected] and identify Girls Trouble or girlstrouble.com. Do not include sensitive documents with your initial request.
